Appreciating a Mother's Love
Some of the most thrilling learning experiences in my life have occurred through out my traveling journeys. I have been blessed with opportunities to visit Australia, New Zealand, Europe and Mexico. When I was a freshman in High School my parents allowed me to choose to have a Quinceñera, a traditional Mexican celebration when a young girl turns into a woman, or a trip to Europe with my Mother. At the time I was turning 15 and I was in a stage of my life where I mostly wanted to have fun with people who I thought would be my friends forever. Therefore, part of me wanted to have a Quinceñera and share my birthday with my friends. Then again, the other part of me really wanted to go to Europe. In the end I chose to take the trip to Europe with my mother. Through out the trip my mother and I experienced an entirely different world! We experienced what some call a "culture shock" but we were in awe with the beauty of Paris, Amsterdam, London, Florence, Venice and Switzerland. We had a lot of fun and we learned about the history of the creation of the Eiffel Tower, Napoleon, and Anne Frank. However, the most important things that I learned during this trip was to appreciate the blessings in our lives and to always try to make the best out of the times you spend with your mother. A mother is someone who loves you more than anyone ever can, knows you better than you know yourself and is willing to do anything to make you happy; I also believe this exact thing about my father and sister. However, I emphasize on my mother because this trip allowed my mother and I to bond a lot more and allowed me to appreciate her and the things she does for our family. I learned to appreciate the hard work of my father after reflecting on the things my mother does and learned to appreciate my sister's love and support. I look back and think of this trip with my mother and I am thankful for deciding to explore a new world next to her because we created memories that are special to both of us. I feel like this was a valuable lesson for me that I am so happy to have obtained. Now, I am able to appreciate the sacrifices that those close to me take and I have learned to give back in even the smallest, simplest ways. I give back to my parents by working hard and making them proud of my academics. When I go home for the holidays I enjoy every moment and conversation I have with my parents and sister. Together, my family and I laugh, relax and forget about small problems in our life. We take in the moment and through the moments we spend together I realize how blessed I am.
